La Scuola, come dice il nome, era la scuola del borgo: i bambini di prima, seconda e terza elementare studiavano qui in un’unica classe. Si trova appena fuori dal portone del castello.
È tutta al piano terra. Il soggiorno ha il pavimento in travertino ed è dotato di una cucina completa, frigorifero incluso. L'aria condizionata (disponibile a pagamento) può anche riscaladare un po' gli ambienti nelle mezze stagioni.
Il letto matrimoniale nella camera può essere diviso su richiesta in due letti singoli. Il bagno ha una grande doccia. I soffitti hanno travi a vista in tutta la casa.
C'è una terrazza privata sul retro con un tavolino e due sedie, per mangiare o rilassarsi all'aperto nella piacevole penombra del bosco.

Originally, La Scuola housed the castle smithy, making and repairing everything ferrous needed for agriculture and daily life. The blacksmiths were highly skilled: look at the dragon’s head knocker on the heavy wooden door to the castle court.
In the 1950s and ‘60s La Scuola (which means The School) was used as a one-room schoolhouse, where the overseer’s wife taught reading, writing and whatever seemed important for life on a farm to the children of the peasants from around Montalto. Tacked on the walls we found a drawing of a poisonous snake and one of an ear of wheat. The schoolhouse was outside the walls, to make it accessible to those who lived on the poderi, the sharecroppers’ farms.
From 1967 on, La Scuola was no longer used as a school, as a little yellow school bus scoured the countryside and took all the children from the farms and the castle to the elementary school in Castelnuovo Berardenga. The bus trip was the best part of the children’s day.
